Jahdan Blakkamoore – Global Warning! Podcast

Word on the streets (and by streets I really mean blogs) is that Jahdan Blakkamoore is putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album, Babylon Nightmare. No release date has been announced yet, but while we anxiously await the return of our favorite genrebending, Guyanese-Brooklynite singjay we have the Global Warning! podcast/mixtape to hold us down.
This mix was put together by Digital Ancient for Lustre Kings, the record label behind Turbulence, Lutan Fyah, and now Jahdan, as a little preview of what’s to come on the LP. After only a couple of rotations, I’m ready to for some full-length tracks – especially the Eek-A-Mouse sampling, “Down in the Ghetto.”
Peep the tracklist and a little BTS video after the jump. Happy Solstice, suckas!

HVW8 podcast – Master Blazter
The fellows over at HVW8 Production House don’t mess around. Their latest podcast, Master Blazter, is a future funk merry go round, mixed by the nearly-deported Los Anegeles-based DJ Kutmah. Good thing we’ve still got him, and good thing HVW8 is putting him on. Get get get it!rhythm incursions
“picking up where hip hop stops.” that is the mission statement for the website rhythm incursions. i don’t spend much time on the actual RI site, having instead bookmarked the RI podcast page, and checking in there several times a week. it’s an embarassment of riches. seemingly everything is posted by a dude named laurent fintoni (who has a pretty dope blog of his own), an international type who leads the kind of life most of us here at LxNxM wish we could have. my favorite feature is the monthly podcast presented by laurent, which introduces me to music that i’m subsequently playing and/or hearing all the time in the weeks and months that follow. click here for laurent’s podcasts, and here for everything else. you’re welcome.
Grey Area podcast Vol.1
Good evening fair LxNxM denizens. In addition to being a prolific local beatmaker, WD40 also holds down a nightly called Grey Area a the local bar/artspace Grey Gallery. If experimentaldubglitchbreakhopstep is what you seek – or if it sounds compelling Grey area is the spot.
Here is the first ever Grey Area Podcast to give you taste of what you might hear. Kicking it off with resident blapster Dead Noise and a bunch of his original tracks, mixed with some of his favorite tunes of the day. Rounding things out, Ill Cosby (Car/Crash/Set) brings a fine selection of glitchy, wonky sounds from the future!
If you can make it out to Grey Area this Friday, Feb.12 – you can catch LxNxM’s very own Toast and Tang on the decks as special guests. Peace.
BBC Radio 1: Theophilus London & Dam-Funk in the Studio w/ Gilles Peterson

If you don’t already know about Gilles Peterson, that’s your bad. He’s an OG cratedigger and tastemaker extraordinaire coming outta London, England. His roots are deep in jazz, but he’s not afraid to deviate from the beaten path, and everything he plays is butta. Peep the podcast if you’re not familiar, but first check Theophilus London and Dam-Funk on Mr. Peterson’s show on BBC Radio 1. Click here for the tracklist.
Black Chiney x Mavado
Comin straight up out the gully side, Mavado and Walshy Fire have blessed the internet with this mix. Black Chiney, the baddest sound in Florida by far, always comes correct (peep this post and this post for some more fire from the Black Chiney massive).

After four years, Walshy Fire is leavin Mixx 96. This podcast is the last official mix he’s doing for Mixx 96. He’s going to 103.5 The Beat, where Walshy and his co host, Lady Terra, will host a weekly show on Sundays called “The Rockers Island Show.” If you’re in SoFla, you should listen to his show tomorrow night and then hit up the after party at Opium Hard Rock in Hollywood.
Aidonia & Federation Sound – Bolt Action Mixtape
Federation Sound, has teamed up with up-and-coming dancehall artist Aidonia and blessed the internet with this mixtape. Aidonia is not signed to a label and he’s not associated with any crew, but he has been around for a minute. He kinda sounds like a cross between Bounty Killer and Vybz Kartel to me, which is funny because those dudes are his second and third bffs on myspace.

More than anything, this post is really just an excuse for me to tell y’all about the Federation Sound. Federation Sound is Kenny Meez and Max Glazer, holdin it down for Philly and Brooklyn, and veteran selectors Alric and Boyd down in Jamaica. These guys put a sick series of mixtapes out a few years back called Roots, Reality and Culture. Their mixes are flawless, and their dubplate selection is par excellence. If I get any requests, I’ll upload the last three Roots, Reality and Culture mixes (4-6) to mediafire and put up some links.
You should really peep their Federation Invasion podcast (you can also find them at the itunes store for free). They put them out weekly, and they are always blazing hot. There are 124 archived podcasts for you to catch up on, so hurry up!
Garth Trinidad x Shafiq Husayn

This podcast (mixtape, podcast, it’s all the same) was mixed by Garth Trinidad to promote Shafiq Husayn’s (of Sa-Ra) upcoming album, Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka, due out soon on the Plug Research label. The mix includes cuts from: Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, King Tee, Jurassic, John Legend, Sa-Ra, etc. It’s nice.
