Dam-Funk – How U Gon Fuck Around and Choose a Busta (Over A Real Gangsta)?
For real, girl! How you gon play D-F like that? I doubt that busta’s perm is as fly or as gangsta as Dam’s. And I know he doesn’t give you free downloads of that raw uncut funk like he does…
Dam-Funk’s free unmastered mp3 download series continues. In my opinion, this is the best track from the series so far. The title/hook is pretty catchy too.
Download (via Stones Throw)
Since we’re on a HVW8 jag anyway…
Via the homie Black Mal P, here’s live footage from L.A.’s Sunday stalwart, the Do Over, of Dam Funk’s remix of “I Should Tell Ya Momma On You”. Good times, and the sunny Sunday situation should make anyone’s gray Thursday pass a tad quicker.
Previous HVW8 lovage right hurr…
Theophilus London – Acccept the New
This is Theophilus London over Dâm-Funk’s “Fantasy.” He’s calling it “Accept the New.” I like it, so I guess I accept.
This track will be on Theo’s upcoming mixtape, I Want You, which is set for release on April 28th. While you’re waiting for that drop, you can download “Accept the New” here.
Fatima – Soul Glo
All the better for getting your spacey trip-out on, my dear. This is a serious dose of future funk from the UK. On the Mind Travelin EP, Fatima gets it in over production by Dam Funk, Veebeeo and Soul Glo’s producer Funkineven – and in fact, the EP itself is a split with Dam Funk himself. This is one you’ve got to let wash over you…
dam-funk – speak the truth
big-ups to stones throw for giving away this previously unreleased dam-funk track called speak the truth. the truth is, as dam states on this track, he deserves some credit for showing me that funk is alive. you can download the track right here. and, considering how much i love his last mixtape collaboration with CLAE footwear (which we wrote about here), i’m really looking forward to hearing the “funk’s revenge” mixtape that will accompany 101 apparel‘s upcoming spring collection. you can count on that mix being posted on here when it’s available.
Hollyweerd – Remixes, Mixtapes

Not too long ago, I hit y’all up with the Adult Swim ATL RMX album. You might remember that there was supposed to be a 17th track on there that was nowhere to be found. That mysterious track, Dam-Funk’s remix of Hollyweerd’s “Have you Ever Made Love to a Weirdo,” popped up the other day on a remix suite EP. It’s a nice collection of remixes of the same song by some noteworthy producers, including 9th Wonder.
I would post a lot more about Hollyweerd, cuz they’re dope and they definitely deserve the shine, but I’ve been slackin on my bloggin. I got some catching up to do, so I’ll let the music speak for itself. I will say this, though, they’re on some ATLien next shit. Oh yeah, check the album artwork out too – it’s also dope.
Peep the remix EP and a couple Hollyweerd mixtapes after the jump. (more…)
Dam Funk x Hawthorne Headhunters
Two of LxNxM’s favorite artists/subjects, funk demigod Dam Funk and grown and sexy collective Hawthorne Headhunters, teamed up last summer to grant us some musical beauty. The song is called PCH, and the vibe is exactly what you would hope for – synths that get chunky just before the smooth hits, and snares that make your neck do that snapping thing.
Anyhoo, it’s not brand new new, but it’s still filthy. Get ‘er.
Dam Funk x Hawthorne Headhunters – PCH
In-studio video below the jump. Damn.
Dâm-Funk X Notorious B.I.G.
This is one of my favorite Dâm-Funk songs, “Hood Pass Intact,” mashed up with the classic Biggie track “Goin’ back to Cali.” As far as mash ups go, this is top notch. Download and bump it now. If you’re at work, you should be all like ”what, bitches? It’s Friday!”

Dam Funk – Mirrors video
Hot spit from Mister Los Angeles himself, Dam Funk. Here’s a new video for Mirrors off the new album Toeachizown, and it’s a burner. Dam Funk never brings less than the real business, and he’s going extra with this one. Enjoy!
BBC Radio 1: Theophilus London & Dam-Funk in the Studio w/ Gilles Peterson

If you don’t already know about Gilles Peterson, that’s your bad. He’s an OG cratedigger and tastemaker extraordinaire coming outta London, England. His roots are deep in jazz, but he’s not afraid to deviate from the beaten path, and everything he plays is butta. Peep the podcast if you’re not familiar, but first check Theophilus London and Dam-Funk on Mr. Peterson’s show on BBC Radio 1. Click here for the tracklist.
