Erykah Badu X Rick Ross – Window Seat Remix/Get Munny (Video)
Officer Ricky starts this video out like most Rick Ross videos, by rapping next to a fancy car. And yes, his verse leaves a lot left to be desired (perhaps another rapper?). But don’t worry, things get a little interesting once he picks Erykah up. For starters, she’s wearing a Rick James wig.

On a side note, I hope Erykah doesn’t have a baby with Rick Ross now.
Slum Village – Don’t Fight the Filling (ft. Dwele)/Daylight
Ooooooweeeee! Really?!? This is almost too good to be new Slum Village. It sounds like old SV came back from the past, but with a renewed, fresher sound. It makes me feel kinda guilty that I like it so much knowing that Baatin and Dilla are no longer with us. Is that wrong?
“Don’t Fight the Filling/Daylight” is basically one of those two-in-one combo deals. Elzhi and T3 spit some classic verses while Dwele softly kills the hook on the first half of the track . Don’t Fight the Filling then gives way to Daylight, which is basically the best use of funky hand claps and sitars I’ve ever heard.
This track is off the the Villa Manifesto EP, which came out July 27th - just in time for Slum Village to break up. Yup, that’s what I said. Ain’t that some bullshit?

Cutty Ranks X Cam’ron and Vado – Limb by Tung (Cosmo Baker & Skratch Bastid’s Harlem Meets Jamaica Mix)

Skratch Bastid and The Rub’s Cosmo Baker were rehearsing for their Let’s Build performance the other day, and somewhere along the way Cosmo decided to start fuckin with the beat to the new Dipset joint, “Speakin’ in Tongues.” Skratch Bastid threw Cutty’s classic acapella over it and “instantly smoke filled the room and an airhorn sounded from the distance.” The rest is mashup history.
Stream and/or download this magical musical mishmash below, but be mindful of where you are when you hit play. You definitely don’t want to play this song too loud in the office, unless, of course, your boss is cool with ganja smoke and airhorns at the workplace.
(On a somewhat related sidenote, have you peeped the free hip hop hisotry mixtapes that they’ve been droppin’ over at The Rub? If you haven’t, you really got get up on that. For real.)
New Busy Signal Album Out July 13th!!!
Busy Signal is crazy. He’s crazy talented, crazy versatile, and he’s crazy prolific. Throughout the past year or so, Busy has dropped so many hot tracks that he could have probably put out a double album. Instead, Busy’s third album, D.O.B., which drops on Wednesday, only has like three songs you’ve heard before and about a dozen all new tracks. No doubt, he gets his name from being so damn busy, but shit. He’s like the James Brown of dancehall or something.
Here are two new tracks that you probably haven’t heard before that will be featured on the album. Di Genius kills the beat on this first track, “How U Bad Suh,” on some crazy techno dancehall madness. I’m feelin it.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & Mick Boogie – Summertime: The Mixtape
I peeped this on Blind I a few days ago and been meaning to share it with y’all. I guess by blog standards that means that this is kinda old news. I don’t care, though. It’s hot as shit outside, and you need some summertime tunes, hand picked by none other than Mick Boogie and DJ Jazzy Jeff, to cool you down.
Presented by UNDRCRWN and Motivation Boutique, the Summertime Mixtape will quickly become your newest summer essential. I expect to hear this at BBQs, beach parties, picnics, block parties, and from people’s open car windows all over the goddamn place for the rest of the summer. If I don’t, I’ll be dissapointed in you.
Download the mix here, and peep the tracklist after the jump (duh). (more…)
Drake & Jimmy Kimmel – Follow Me, Follow Me, Tweet Tweet
This made me feel better after getting my wisdom tooth pulled and the US loss to Ghana today.
The Roots – Dear God 2.0 (video)
“Dear God 2.0” is the new single and video from The Legendary Roots Crew. The album, How I Got Over, comes out tomorrow. Go to your local record shop and buy that shit with real money. Do it!
Jahdan Blakkamoore – Global Warning! Podcast

Word on the streets (and by streets I really mean blogs) is that Jahdan Blakkamoore is putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album, Babylon Nightmare. No release date has been announced yet, but while we anxiously await the return of our favorite genrebending, Guyanese-Brooklynite singjay we have the Global Warning! podcast/mixtape to hold us down.
This mix was put together by Digital Ancient for Lustre Kings, the record label behind Turbulence, Lutan Fyah, and now Jahdan, as a little preview of what’s to come on the LP. After only a couple of rotations, I’m ready to for some full-length tracks – especially the Eek-A-Mouse sampling, “Down in the Ghetto.”
Peep the tracklist and a little BTS video after the jump. Happy Solstice, suckas!

Bilal – Free
Bilal‘s first album in 9 years, Airtight’s Revenge, is set for release on September 14th via Plug Research. Some blogs are saying that this track will not be on the new album, but some blogs are saying that it will be. At this point, I don’t think it really matters. Its free and on the internet. Just enjoy this shit. It’s smooth. Props to Nottz for the production. I’m definitely feeling this more than the Bilal/Shafiq Husayn collabo that Nottz produced for Shafiq’s LP, Shafiq En’ A-Free-Ka. Just sayin.
